A fine scarce straight-sided salt glazed stoneware mug. This mug, impressed with a crowned AR cipher, was made in Westerwald, Germany, for the English market to commemorate the reign of Queen Anne. The decoration consists of an incised central band of geometric designs centering on the cartouche, flanked by two ring barrels all filled with cobalt coloration. There are minor hairlines and restored rim chips.
